Michael Barlerin Receives JVC’s Stanley Schechter Award


New York City, January 11, 2010— Jewelers Vigilance Committee hosted its annual luncheon at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City, Friday, January 8, 2010. More than 130 jewelry industry leaders gathered to welcome newly elected board members and JVC Chairman, Marc A. Green and to recognize retiring board members.  Green is Vice Chairman of Lux, Bond & Green.

Congresswoman Caroline B. Maloney, representing New York’s 14th Congressional District and Chair of the Joint Economic Committee, delivered the keynote address, sharing information that is important to the jewelry industry, including the state of legislative efforts to aid economic recovery, consumer protection against credit card abuse and an update on a new estate tax bill.

JVC awarded its Stanley Schechter Award to retiring JVC Board member Michael C. Barlerin for his 16 years of distinguished service on JVC’s Board.   Prior to the luncheon, JVC’s 2008-2009 Board of Directors ratified JVC’s 2010-2011 Board.
